Collective construction of consciousness
The waste triggers the idea. The visitor’s gesture becomes the work of consciousness.
I come across waste. Shaped by the sea, by time, by chance, some of it gives me a perspective, an idea to pass on. From each piece I draw a gesture that I offer the visitor: to look into a pipe, to turn around an object, to roll a float…
This gesture, I don’t control. I don’t know who will come, nor what will be said, shown or done, nor how the visitor will react to my installation.
It is precisely from these uncontrolled gestures that the true work is born: the trace of those who came to become aware of an idea I wanted to pass on. There is my original plastic work, but above all there is a second work, derived from the first and created by consciousness itself, which the human being does not control.
That is the collective construction of consciousness.
